Older patients suffering from sudden low back pain (LBP) who receive only non-pharmacologic treatments, such as physical therapy or spinal manipulation, experience much lower chances of going to hospital because of an overdose. This is in comparison to those who take either opioids alone, gabapentinoids, or a mix of drugs with non-pharmacologic treatments, as highlighted in a study published in the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine.
